Bruker is seeking an Application Scientist, Electron Microscopy to support our portfolio of systems in Singapore and neighbouring countries. This is a high-impact, customer-facing role focused on technical service excellence, system reliability, and successful customer onboarding.

Responsibilities

As an Application Scientist, Electron Microscopy, your responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Support pre- and after-sales application activities in the Asia Pacific (including China) Region.
  • Conduct demonstrations and trainings of EM hardware and software, both virtually and in-person, at the Application Lab or at customer sites.
  • Act as the technical expert, advising Sales and customers on system performance, capabilities, and suitability during the purchasing process.
  • Perform sample analysis in collaboration with Sales and present measurement reports in a clear, professional manner.
  • Develop application-related materials such as presentations, scientific posters, and reports in collaboration with the Asia Pacific and Headquarters Applications team.
  • Support marketing activities, including participation in scientific conferences to present Bruker EM
  • Collaborate with the EM user community on method development and application optimization.
  • Support software development and test, as well as new product innovation knowledge transfer to local team.
  • Work with other Business Unit team members (R&D, Operations, Service, etc…) and Business development on package solutions for different market segments.
  • Provide aftermarket support by assisting customers with analytical challenges, including method refinement and data interpretation.
  • Support the technical team and customers in troubleshooting system and performance-related issues.
  • Support the Service team with the installation, including initial operation guidance, user training, and follow-up application training where applicable.

Qualifications

What do you need to be successful in this role? 

  • Masters or PhD degree in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field
  • Minimum 3-8 years of STEM, EELS and/or Cryo EM experience. PhD graduates are welcome to apply if they have experience working on STEM, EELS in their research topics.
  • Hands on technical experience with complex scientific instruments, and strong interest in instrumentation
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; proficiency in Mandarin is an advantage for effective communication with Mandarin-speaking stakeholders in the region, but it is not a must have
  • Demonstrated ability to train, mentor, and share knowledge effectively with fellow colleagues, customers and other stakeholders
  • Ability to work independently and in teams
  • Willing to travel up to 40% and and able to engage with customers and teams from different cultures
  • Experience in electron microscopy would be a big plus, but is not necessary
  • Experience in building scientific apparatus would also be added advantage
